The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris , commonly known as Our Lady, is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Paris , located on the Ile de la Cité . Dedicated to the Virgin Mary , it has for many centuries been one of the largest cathedrals in the West . Long the highest construction of the city, it is one of the most emblematic monuments of Paris.
