Bamberg is a city in the north of the German state of Bavaria. It lies at the mouth of the rivers Regnitz and Main and extends over 7 hills. The old town is characterized by its well-preserved buildings from the 11th to the 19th centuries, including the decorated with façade paintings Old Town Hall, which is located on an island in the Regnitz and is accessible via arch bridges. The Romanesque Bamberger Dom, whose construction began in the 11th century, has 4 towers and numerous stone sculptures.
